Extends Income Tax Filing Deadline to May 17
The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance has extended the state income tax filing deadline for individuals to May 17, 2021, mirroring the IRS extension. No interest or penalties will be charged if the taxes are filed and paid by this new date.
The extended deadline only applies to individual income tax returns at this time. This relief does not apply to estimated tax payments that are due on April 15, 2021. These payments are still due on April 15, 2021.
